Voted #1 Taco Spot

Sunset Magazine

Our Hau'ula restaurant sits at 54-296 Kamehameha Highway, right in the heart of Oahu's Windward Coast. The joint was founded in 2010, and it became the Baja-style taco spot that locals and visitors have loved ever since. The open-air dining room looks out at the Ko'olau Mountains, and we serve tropical margaritas and local beers like Big Swell and Bikini Blonde.

Hau'ula is a quiet seaside town between Punalu'u and La'ie, known for its beach parks and the Hau'ula Loop Trail in the Ko'olau foothills. Visitors driving the Windward Coast loop often stop here after visiting the Polynesian Cultural Center in La'ie or hiking at Kahana Valley State Park just south of town. Our drive-through makes it easy to grab tacos without leaving the car.

Whether you're a local from Ka'a'awa or Kahuku, a BYU-Hawaii student from La'ie, or a tourist circling the island on Kamehameha Highway, we serve the same scratch-made tacos and fresh, never-frozen fish that earned us the #1 spot from Sunset Magazine.

Does the Hau'ula location have a drive-through?

Yes! Our Hau'ula restaurant is the only location with a drive-through, perfect for grabbing tacos on the go while cruising Kamehameha Highway.

Is the Hau'ula restaurant family-friendly?

Absolutely. We have indoor and outdoor seating, a Keiki (kids) menu starting at $4.78, and a dedicated parking lot. The relaxed atmosphere is perfect for families after a day at Hau'ula Beach Park or the Polynesian Cultural Center.

What are your most popular menu items?

Our Surfin' Tacos with fresh fish are our signature dish and were named #1 by Sunset Magazine. The Beach Burrito, Gnarly Nachos, and our Pineapple Tiki drink are also crowd favorites.

We use locally caught fish that's never been frozen. Every taco is made to order with scratch-made salsas, fresh toppings, and our signature Surf Sauce - a recipe inspired by Joey's Baja surf trips.
