From the Locals

Insider
Know-How.

We’ve been on the North Shore since 2010. Here’s what we tell every visitor who stops by the truck.

01

Drive the Full Loop

If you have time, do the full island loop — Waikiki to North Shore via H-2, then continue east through Hau'ula and back down the Windward Coast. You'll hit both our spots: the Sharks Cove food truck and the Hau'ula restaurant.

02

Check the Surf Report

Before heading out, check Surfline or local news for surf and wind conditions. In winter, North Shore waves can top 30 feet — beautiful to watch, but beach closures and parking chaos can upend your plans.

03

Gas Up Before You Go

Gas stations are sparse on the North Shore. Fill your tank before leaving Honolulu or Haleiwa. The Foodland in Pupukea (across from our food truck) has basics if you need supplies.

04

Bring Some Cash

Most places accept cards, including us. But some roadside fruit stands, shave ice spots, and farmers' market vendors are cash-only. Having $20–40 in small bills means you won't miss out.
